Family Music Night at School

Picture this scene...The bright sun is shining enough to slightly warm us as we're sitting in our lawn chairs on the bus loop grass. Peppy live music from the O'Kaysions is playing. At least 300 people are up dancing or swaying to the beat and enjoying the spring air and tunes.

This, this is what my boys are doing though...

WORD SEARCHES!!!

 Come on boys!

Did you not inherit your mom's ability to groove to the music?

I Heart Faces - Black & White Dramatic or Moody Photo

I had a tough time choosing which photo to submit for this contest. I chose this one because my son is the epitome of dramatic and moody. This shot was taken after a day trip to the beach. He was not happy to be home.

Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution

I watched something on TV that was actually worth watching last night. It is called Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution on ABC. I’ve seen him on the TODAY show and have always thought he was just a cutie patootie, but now I see there is so much more behind his adorableness.

He has a mission. It is to transform the way children eat at school and at home. He’s talking about eating normal good-for-you foods like real chicken (not chicken nuggets), real fruits (not canned in high-fructose corn syrup and preservatives), etc.

It was quite terrifying when he went into a first grade classroom and the children looked like they’d never seen a tomato, or potato, or mushroom, or much less ever eaten any of those vegetables in their normal form and not as ketchup or French fries.

Because it’s TV and it has to be entertaining, the lunch ladies in the first episode put up quite a fuss and almost make poor Jamie cry.

Be sure to check out his website to learn more about his Food Revolution.

Fill-in-the-Blank Friday

Wanna play along? Click here!

1. The best piece of advice I was ever given was live like there's no tomorrow and one day you'll be right.

2. If I had a million dollars to give to one charity I would give it to Palmetto Animal Assisted Life Services. I need to modify that. I wouldn't give it to just one charity. There would be at least a few.

3. If I got to choose my "last meal" it would be pizza with about every topping imaginable and buster bar dessert.

4. My hair is newly cut. I like it, except the boring color! It's bland brown. I'd like it to be this color...

5. If at first you don't succeed keep on trying and know that God has a master plan for your life. "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

6. I have always been very emotional when I see disabled people. I'm get emotional seeing what people with disibilites go through and what they overcome.

7. Oh....and by the way....I'm NERVOUS to have a different PAALS puppy this weekend. Let's hope Roberta is a good girl this weekend!

Isle of Palms Before/After Using PhotoScape

Spring has sprung! We decided to take a little road trip (just two hours) to Isle of Palms. Nearly 80 degrees was the high and there was not a cloud in the sky. The gentle breeze kissed my face while I relaxed in my comfy beach chair.

I played with some of the 196 pictures I took. Here are the results. I wish I could tell you step-by-step what I did to alter the images, but I was just playing around.

Before

After. I love the difference in the appearance of the water.

Before. It's too dark.

Before

After. I love how soft this looks. It's a bit over-exposed, but I like it!

Before.  This pic is ok but too dark and off-center.

Before

After. I used a "film effect" with this one, but don't recall what it was.
Whatever it was, I like it! The whole pic looks so much crisper.

Before. This is a great shot of Charlie,
but those darn butts behind it are a little distracting.
